ICYMI: Four Members of Congress Call for Noem’s Immediate Resignation Over FEMA Crisis

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a rebuke of Secretary Kristi Noem’s catastrophic tenure at the Department of Homeland Security, four members of Congress yesterday demanded her immediate resignation for her mismanagement of FEMA. Representatives Troy Carter (LA-02), Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Greg Stanton (AZ-04), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) sent a letter to Donald Trump detailing Noem’s pattern of failures – from her gutting of FEMA’s workforce to her $100,000 bureaucratic rule that has hamstrung disaster response nationwide. Sabotaging Our Safety commends the calls to remove Secretary Noem immediately and reverse the dismantling of FEMA’s ability to save American lives.

“These members of Congress are absolutely right to call for Secretary Noem’s resignation. These aren’t partisan complaints – they’re warnings from leaders who understand what’s at stake when disaster response collapses,” said Sabotaging Our Safety Advisory Council Member and former FEMA official Rafael Lemaitre. “Noem’s reckless dismantling of FEMA isn’t making the agency more efficient, it’s leaving it incapable of protecting Americans when they need help most. From mass firings to bureaucratic obstacles, Secretary Noem has proven she’s more interested in dismantling FEMA than in saving lives.”

The letter pulls no punches: “Secretary Noem’s first year at the helm of DHS has been its own kind of disaster. We have witnessed unforced errors and disturbing choices, including a pattern of decisions leaving FEMA less capable of fulfilling its obligation to American disaster survivors.”
